Have an office meeting that ends at 5 p.m. and then an event to attend at 7 p.m.? Well, cast your worries aside and go from day to night or day to date night in a flash. In just about as long as it would take you to warm up a t.v. dinner, you can be dressed from head to toe in completely different look. (For those of you who haven’t ventured that far in the grocery store’s freezer section,a t.v. dinner takes about 3-5 minutes.) And, with that time you can include the makeup, if needed. Like many, I have encountered many a days where I have been in a rush to meet a friend after work and did not want to look like I was about to step into office meeting. And, in those moments I would carry some cute shoes to swap with my work shoes and throw on some accessories to spice up my look.
Ok, first things first, you have to have a base for your outfit and then build on it. For this “Day 2 Night” look, I chose to use this beautiful cotton stretch dress by Freda. Besides the fact that it is easy, breezy cotton, it is bold color that is not too distracting for the office and can be all the way live when paired with the right accessories for a lovely evening. Ok…so, swapping the shoes are a dead giveaway, but what about your handbag. In the day, you might need a bigger bag to carry quite a few things, but, in the night or early evening, you really only need to carry 3 things: wallet, phone and keys, so opt for a lighter bag such as a clutch
Accessories for a day look could be little more basic compared to a night look, so wearing colors like black or even a color that is neutral with a great contrast would be ideal. In the night, your accessories could be big, bold or should just stay at home – just kidding. But, really, have even more fun with it. After all, you are out of the office, right?
RANDOM TIP: your day looks do not have to make you look like a plain jane, so adding a bold print, pattern or even a color will axe out the ‘plain’ in jane.
Well, when you have a full work week every weekend seems special, but, this weekend was especially special. This weekend I got to spend time with my family, reflect, laugh, share stories and make new memories that I can tell my children someday. It was my dad’s birthday and my Aunt’s birthday month so I spend the whole two-day weekend celebrating with food, drinks and laughter. Though this was a special weekend, I opted to wear a comfy, more laid back outfit for a casual birthday breakfast.
Now, ‘laid back’ doesn’t mean that you cannot add some flare. It just means that you are dressed a bit more casual and a little more comfortable than the button-down or up look. For this look, I went with stripes and not in the common colors like navy, red and black…but olive. And, not just olive stripes but asymmetrical stripes. Then, I paired it with some skips (aka skater sneakers) and cropped jeans, which are perfect if you want to show your legs without going for the Nair full short, shorts look.
