Stop ‘N’ Swap: Community Reuse Events

When reading the daily newspaper (AmNewYork) I stumbled across the posting about a Stop ‘N’ Swap event hosted by NYC Recycles and GrowNYC throughout some of the NYC boroughs and thought immediately that I have to share this information. One, because it is free; and two, if the first reason was not good enough, this is the perfect event for you to donate your clothes or household items that might otherwise be crowding up your closet, drawers, catching dust or doubling as a paperweight.  Plus, if you see something you like and will need,  you can swap it or just take it to go.  After all, their motto is ‘ you don’t have to bring something to take something’ so go for it.

Sometimes you can live so close where the action is and no absolutely nothing about it, and it would be seen as a missed opportunity. So do not miss this opportunity! Or, rather opportunities…Remember, when I mentioned that it would be taking place throughout the boroughs, well, starting tomorrow, October 3 Brooklyn and the South Bronx will be hosting their stop ‘n’ swap events from noon (12pm) to 3pm.  If you are thinking ‘maybe, tomorrow is too short notice,’ that is alright because Queens will be housing two separate events on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25. (More information listed below)

Now, you can bring pretty much anything, granted that it is clean and in good condition. However, there are a few restrictions such as furniture and other large items.  If you stumped about what kind of items that you could bring, I listed a few based on the posting:

  • Clothing
  • Housewares
  • Electronics
  • Books
  • Toys (Only if your child does not need it anymore. 😉 )
